Being prepared for your ride will help you have the best experience and spend more time out on the trails! Here are just a few of the things that are unique to our area that you may encounter.
Our snakes live throughout the Redcliff hills, Echo Dale and Gas City Campground trails. They reside in dens but will occasionally be seen sunning themselves on the trails. Click the link below to see what to do if you encounter one!
Cactus grows in abundance in our semi-era desert climate. Watch for these on the edges of trails when you put a foot down! They also have needles strong enough to stick into tires so be sure to have a patch kit and/or spare tube.
Though sightings are rare, Cypress Hills are home to quite a few families of cougars. These large cats are beautiful but should be treated seriously and distance kept. You should always be aware of your surroundings when riding the trails and what you could encounter. Click the link below to learn how to be safe!
Elkwater is a fantastic wooded area to ride but very different than our city trails without trees. Especially during the stormy spring time, downed trees can be a hazard on the trail you're riding. Always check that the trail is open and pre-ride it to ensure it is free and clear of any fallen trees. Pre-Ride, Re-Ride, Free-Ride!
